Back to the Café!

he wonderfully relaxed atmosphere at the Café can be attributed in part to the artwork that covers our walls. As you sit and sip a cup of hazelnut, drink in the expressions of local artisans. Currently, we are featuring the work of Susan Moran.

usan is the creator of "Art-Aches" and refers to herself as an emerging old artist. A long-time resident of Silver Spring, she was introduced to the world of art and artists during her ten years as the Associate Dean of Students at the reknowned Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C.

t the age of fifty-something, inspired by her students and colleagues at the Corcoran, Susan began creating her own art and soon discovered a hidden talent and an all-consuming passion. Thus, the conception and birth of her collecion of works, which she lovingly calls her "Art-Aches."

usan's art, which she readily admits is more "fun" than "fine," reflects her unabashedly irreverent sense of humor and appreciation of the absurd. "Art-Aches," a unique combination of watercolor, ink, and collage, are reproductions of her original drawings. Originals are available for purchase upon special request.
